BAFTAs 2019: Worst dressed stars on the red carpet in London tonight in pictures

The BAFTAs red carpet is a glamorous affair, with the cream of British film appearing in their best looks.

But while many looked incredible tonight, some celebrities did not quite make the style grade.

Some of the worst dressed stars included Edith Bowman, 45, who was hosting the red carpet alongside Dermot O’Leary, 45, and Maya Jama, 24, who left very little to the imagination in a sheer black gown.

Edith chose a pink broderie anglaise dress with a black bib, white lace oversized cuffs and a bizarre white “ruff” collar. A red and green embellished still life completed the eye-catching design, which she teamed this with black gloves.

Maya chose a sheer black dress by Aadnevik, which she teamed with Jimmy Choo shoes. The gown barely covered her modesty, leaving her close to an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction.

Lily Collins, 29, stood out in a midnight blue choice by Givenchy – which not only had a sheer lace skirt and silk jacket with turned up collar, but also featured a heavily embellished sequin skirt which puffed out stiffly underneath the sheer lace skirt.

Lucy Boynton, 25, star of Bohemian Rhapsody, wore a stunning gown – but her eye makeup let the overall look down.

The gorgeous actress chose a bizarre pink eyeshadow to wear alongside her black white pleated dress, which featured a ruffled trim.

French actress Stacy Martin, 28, flashed the flesh in a sheer black dress, which featured tassels, a sheer dotty material, and a high neckline.

The gown was opulent – but with so much going on, it did the pretty actress no favours.

Amy Jackson, 27,  wore a sparkly black princess style gown which sadly drowned her petite frame.

From one Amy to another – A List actress Amy Adams chose a wine coloured Prada gown, which flattered her skin tone – but sadly the ruffled shoulders and heavy material looked straight out of the 80s.

British actress Zawe Ashton, 34, was drowned in her hot pink Roksanda Ilincic gown, which came down low on her back. Clearly going for an avante garde look, Zawe sadly did not quite hit the spot with her choice.

Reality TV star Millie Mackintosh, 29, chose a romantic peachy cream dress to walk the red carpet, which she paired with a deep tan – but she looked more like she was wearing her wedding gown than attending an A List event.

Gemma Whelan, 37, chose a sky blue 70s style dress – but it looked a little too casual for such a glamorous evening.

One woman who is sure to look fantastic tonight is the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.

The royal will attend with her husband Prince William, who is President of BAFTA.

She usually wears a British designer to the BAFTAs, which she has attended twice before in 2018 and 2017.
