Kate Middleton BAFTAs 2019: Duchess of Cambridge wears angelic white on the red carpet

  • Kate Middleton, 37, and Prince William, 36, have arrived at the BAFTAs red carpet tonight
  • The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are in attendance thanks to William’s role as President of BAFTA

  • The couple have attended twice before, in 2018 and 2017, and have always looked glamorous

Mum-of-three Kate looked angelic in a bespoke white asymmetric Alexander McQueen gown tonight.

The dress featured a white ruffled detail on the left shoulder, and was gathered at the waist.

She paired the dress with a pair of diamond and pearl drop earrings which once belonged to Princess Diana. A pair of glittery silver Jimmy Choo Romy heels, £525, could be seen peeking out under the hem of her dress.

Kate carried a white rectangular clutch in her hands, and a large diamond bracelet, which is the Queen’s Quatrefoil bracelet, once belonging to the Queen’s mother, could be seen on her right wrist.

Her long brunette locks were swept up in to a chic updo, making the most of the dramatic neckline of her dress.

Last year, Kate was heavily pregnant with her third child, Prince Louis, who is now 9 months old. She wore a forest green gown by Jenny Packham last year, causing a stir as most of the other women in attendance wore black as part of the Time’s Up protest movement.

A dazzling diamond and emerald necklace and matching earrings completed her look.

While she chose to wear her hair in her trademark loose tumbling waves last year, this has not always been the case. In 2017, Kate opted for an extravagant updo to complement the black and white floral off-the-shoulder Alexander McQueen gown she wore.

Leaving her neck bare, the Duchess wore a pair of huge peach gemstone drop earrings and the Edinburgh Wedding Gift Bracelet.

Back in 2011, Kate and William attended a BAFTA Brits to Watch event, and Kate wore McQueen then too. Her stunning lavender gown was belted at the waist with a thick silver belt, and she teamed the fairytale dress with Jimmy Choo Vamp sandals.

The diamond bracelet and matching drop earrings she wore to complete the look are thought to be a gift from Prince William.

Why won’t Meghan Markle and Prince Harry be at the BAFTAs with Kate and William tonight?

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not be attending the BAFTA’s this year, Kensington Palace confirmed to

A spokeswoman for the Palace explained the reason behind the couple’s absence by saying “it is Prince William who has the connection with the film awards as he is the president.”

The Palace tweeted a picture of Prince William and Kate Middleton on the red carpet at the 2017 BAFTA Awards with the caption: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will attend the #EEBAFTAs Awards ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 10th February.

“The Duke, @BAFTA President, and The Duchess will meet BAFTA representatives and watch the ceremony. The Duke will also present the Fellowship award.”

What time does the BAFTAs start tonight?

The BAFTAs 2019 ceremony will be starting at 7pm GMT but won’t be available to watch on television for two hours.

There will be a delay during which the production team will be editing the highlights from the ceremony before it is broadcast.
