Prince Andrew shares rare snaps of Sarah Ferguson with heartfelt Instagram tribute

They may have been granted a divorce back in 1996, but that’s not stopped Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, both 59, from remaining on good terms over the years. Perhaps considered a rare move for divorcees, the couple, who announced they had split in 1992, having wed in 1986, are thought to be close friends. According to reports, the amicable duo even lived together in the Royal Lodge, Windsor, in the past, as they raised their two daughters – Princess Beatrice, 30, and Princess Eugenie, 29. And, in another nod to their good relationship, this weekend, the Duke of York ensured Fergie featured in his birthday tribute to their youngest daughter.

Posting in view of his 138,000 Instagram followers, Prince Andrew penned: “Wishing @princesseugenie a very Happy Birthday! #HappyBirthdayHRH.”

He also posted four snaps featuring the Princess from over the years.

This included a family portrait of the four, back when Princess Eugenie was a young baby.

In the throwback capture, the proud parents can be seen lovingly gazing down at the tot, as can a young Princess Beatrice.

A second shot shows Princess Eugenie as a young child, sitting on a horse.

Her father is standing beside the royal, having wrapped his arm around her.

The third snap is more recent, showing Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice standing with their mother at an event in 2016.

Finishing off the photo compilation is a capture of the Princess and the Duke on her wedding day.

The bride and her father arrived at Windsor Castle’s St George’s Chapel together last October, before she exchanged vows with Jack Brooksbank, 33.

Upon seeing the Instagram post, many well-wishers rushed to say many happy returns to the Princess.

“Happy Birthday to you HRH princess Eugenie of York,” penned one person, while another write: “Happy birthday to our lovely and beautiful, intelligent Princess Eugenie!!!!”

Meanwhile, another person was quick to acknowledge the Duke’s decision to choose photos of his ex-wife in the post.

“Happy Birthday Princess Eugenie!!! Great photos!! Thank you for including Sarah. Thank you for sharing,” they commented.

Another person shared: “I love the York family, Sarah and Andrew must be so proud of Beatrice and Eugenie, as they have both grown into beautiful young women.

“Wonder if Sarah and Andrew will get back together.”

While they may not be a couple, Sarah has publicly addressed the idea of getting married to Prince Andrew again in the future.
